Grace Swanson is best known for her carefully rendered watercolor paintings of flowers, fruit and matchbooks. While the subjects are rotated in her paintings, the true focus of her work is the contrast between light and shadow. By emphasizing extremes in color against darkness, her compositions combine realism with intense color to call attention to the beauty of everyday objects.
